Chamberlain Hrdlicka welcomed former federal tax prosecutor Kevin F. Sweeney to its Philadelphia office. Sweeney previously worked with the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division (DOJ Tax), where he investigated and litigated dozens of federal white-collar criminal cases including tax evasion, tax preparer, employment tax, FBAR, money laundering, currency structuring, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and other financial fraud matters.

Penn Community Bank’s Vice President Linda Cooper has been named to the board of directors of the Bucks County SPCA. Cooper has been working in the banking industry for more than 29 years. She currently serves as Penn Community Bank’s vice president of retail operations, managing the operational aspects of the bank’s 22 branches across Bucks County.

Willig, Williams & Davidson’s partner Alaine S. Williams has been elected as a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Williams focuses her practice on labor and employment law, representing public sector labor unions and protecting the rights of workers. She will be inducted into the College during an induction dinner on Nov. 12 in Chicago.

The American College of Trial Lawyers announced attorney Howard Bruce Klein of the Law Offices of Howard B. Klein, PC of Philadelphia has become a fellow of the college, one of the premier legal associations in North America.

Wright Commissioning welcomed two new commissioning engineers: Jamie Powers is currently working on Saint Agnes Hospital’s new Nephrology Center in Philadelphia, the VA Medical Center in Coatesville, and TD Bank’s North American Headquarters in Cherry Hill, N.J. Cheyenne Miller is currently working on the retro-commissioning of Rowan and Robinson Halls at Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J., and the commissioning of the Levi Building vivarium at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Philadelphia intellectual property law firm Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel announced that two of its attorneys have been elected to leadership roles in the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association (PIPLA) for the 2016–2017 program year. John D. Simmons will serve as president-elect and Keith A. Jones will serve on the board of governors.

Gina F. Rubel, Esq. , president and CEO of Furia Rubel Communications Inc. and chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association Law Practice Management Committee will copresent Ethics and Incorporating New Technologies in Your Law Practice Digital Marketing with Greg Sutphin, director of national accounts, GetLegal.

BankMobile, a division of Customers Bank, named Warren Taylor as president of customer engagement, chief of staff and head of banking, and Casey McGuane as COO and head of student banking.

Edward “Ted” F. Behm Jr. has joined Dilworth Paxson as a partner and will chair the firm’s patent practice. Behm brings significant experience to the firm including representing clients, intellectual property practice, trademark and more.

College Possible Philadelphia announced three new additions to their board during their first 2016-2017 school year board meeting:

Joseph Divis, who has been serving on the board since 2014, was appointed the new chair of the board

Susan Buehler, executive vice president of Bellevue Communications Group, has joined as a new board member

Dr. Scott Glenn, instructor of business, economics and marketing at Pennsylvania State University Brandywine, has joined as a new board member.

Andrea Anania has been named 2016 Volunteer of the Year in southeastern Pennsylvania by United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ). She has showed her dedication by serving as a member of the regional board of directors, the Impact Strategy Committee – Policy Subgroup and the Information Technology Advisory Board.

D&H Global Tax Group (D&H Global) has opened a new office in Philadelphia, beginning with 25 employees and plan to expand to 50 employees in three to five years.

The National Gallery of Art, Washington announced that Starr Catering Group (SCG) has been awarded the contract for food services provider in four visitor dining areas of the East and West Buildings—the group’s first venture in Washington, D.C.

Allied Universal announced the purchase of FJC Security Services, based in Floral Park, N.Y. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Philadelphia Sports Leagues (PSL) opened for business this month. The company was created when former rivals Philly Sport & Social and Philadelphia Sports Network merged this summer. More than 3,500 teams comprised of more than 50,000 participants will compete in social sports with PSL.

The Philadelphia Union announced a naming rights partnership with Power Home Remodeling for the club’s training complex, which is comprised of two regulation-sized training fields and an indoor facility, adjacent to the club’s Talen Energy Stadium. The site will be known as the Power Training Complex.

Pennsylvania’s top business leaders raised more than $725,000 for the American Cancer Society at the second annual Advancing the Breakthrough event and presented by the AmerisourceBergen Foundation, hosted by the Pennsylvania Chapter of CEOs Against Cancer.
